First Large Sculpture

This is the first sculpture that I made.  She is made from Sculpt-a-Mold and plaster of Paris. She was to be a mermaid, but I used her in a shop for display. After sculpting her and discovering how messy plaster of Paris and Sculpt-a-Mold is, I searched for other materials and found polymer clay. It is now my preferred sculpting material. Unfortunately, it must be cured in an oven and I have not found an oven big enough to make life-size sculptures.

Recently I have discovered Cold Porcelain Paste.  I love the way it works for the final coat on large sculptures.  It air dries, shrinks about 10%, very, very smooth and so far I have not had any cracking as with other air dry clays.  It is very durable as well and I when I make something small enough to fit in a regular size kitchen oven, I also heat cure it to be sure it hardens as much as possible.  I look forward to experimenting with this product.
